Invited Presentations (10 minutes per presentation has been allotted to speakers) 1) The growing resilient network Asia, Pacific and beyond –A/Prof. Francis lee Bu Sung, SingAREN Abstract: The connectivity in the region have grown not only within but also to other regions, USA and EU via the signing of major MOU among partners, i.e. Asia-Oceania Europe Ring(AER) and Asia Pacific Oceania Network (APOnet). How important it is for the community to back-up each other to build a multiple 100Gbps resilient network within and between regions. The talk will give a brief overview of the network the community has built to support the research and education community. 2) Asia Pacific Network (APAN) – A/Prof. Francis lee Bu Sung, SingAREN Abstract: APAN has been around since 1996 and has been working to develop the region. It has grown over the years to include South Asia countries. APAN holds twice an annual meeting/workshop that gathers people of all disciplines together to share and plan collaborative work. It has formed a number of workgroups to focus in areas such as Disaster management, Network security, etc. The talk is an update and sharing with the AP* community and participation in future APAN meetings. 3) APSIG-ISOC Standing Group on Accessibility (Joint Program on Disability Leadership) – Sagarika Wickramasekera, APSIG Abstract: As the community leaders of the internet driven world we do have a responsibility of open and accessible internet for all. Unfortunately, persons with disabilities are frequently excluded in many activities with the prevailing situation. Our first task is to recruit, organize and integrate them into the movement, making it clear that each individual disabled person is as important as any other member, with as much right to have his or her voice heard. APSIG would like to present the insights learned from the Dhaka workshop as well introduce the Dhaka Declaration at the AP* Retreat. |
